Recently, I bought a StyleWriter, with which I am quite satisfied so far, except for a repeated little glitch: I repeatedly get a dialog indicating that the printer carriage has jammed, and the print job has been terminated. I took this at face value till a day ago, when the dialog popped up, but the printer printed four more lines before spitting out the current page. I'm running a IIci, and am now wondering if the glitch could be related to a rumored problem with a resistor pack on the serial port of the IIci. I switched the printer to the modem port, and haven't seen the glitch since, but I'd like to keep the modem port open for a modem. (Besides, I haven't printed much since then) Am I in pursuit of an untamed ornithoid, or could there be something to this theory. Any help or other suggestions would be much appreciated, including any info about technical details on possibly replacing the perhaps faulty resistor pack (I'm an incurable technical tinkerer). Thanks, Steve a.k.a. ctvy@vax5.cit.cornell.edu P.S. Could this be a software glitch like the printer driver not recognizing the printer indicating its buffer is full? I'd like to avoid any hardware repairs, if at all possible... --------------------------------------------------------------------- .sig still in the works... has been for years...
