[comp.sys.mac.hardware] SIMM Price report

elliot@ocf.berkeley.edu (Elliot Wilen) (05/15/91)

Time constraints have kept me away from this group for a while.
Nevertheless, I thought the following would be of use.

My company decided to upgrade all of our Mac Plusses (Pluses?) and
SE's from 2.5 to 4 Megs. In addition, one of our SE's needed to have
70 ns SIMMS installed to go with an accelerator. A quick check in the
back of MacWeek and a few phone calls provided the following:

				"slow" SIMMS
Company Phone (80 or 100ns)	70 ns

Third Wave	800-284-0846	$45 --
ClubMac 800-CLUBMAC	$44 --
Technology Works800-688-7466	$49 $49 (IBM-style)
Memory Int'l	800-266-0488	$41.75 $48 (IBM)
Lifetime Memory	800-233-6233	$41.50 $42.50
Shecom 714-637-4800	$47 $50
Chip Merchant	800-426-6375	$40 or $38	$55 (IBM)
Dynamic Electronics 800-845-8228 $37.50 $47
LLB 800-848-8967	$41.50 $43
SII Micros	800-424-1126	$38.50 $43.50
Add-on America	408-746-1590	$43 --
Diamond 800-541-7126	$38 $42.40

Because Diamond is in Texas, I decided to go with them to save on
sales tax. They charged us $7.50 for shipping and we were able to pay
with a credit card without a surcharge. In addition, because we were
ordering a fair number of units, we got the 100's at $37.50 each. I
believe the order was placed last Thursday; the SIMMs arrived today.
