I know that the "standard" interleave for a Hard disk on a Mac Plus is 3:1. I assume that SE's are the same way (3:1) as they run at about the same CPU Speed (even thought the SE has a faster SCSI bus). What is the reason behind different interleaves, slow SCSI or slow CPU? I assume CPU. Anyway, we are about to upgrade our SE's and Plus's with Total Systems Integration's 40mhz accelerators. These come with a fix to the Plus's SCSI bus to get it up to the best speed (handshaking was added). Also included is an auxilary power supply and a video interface kit for external monitors. THE QUESTION IS: can I change the interleave on the Hard Drives on the SE's and Plus's to 1:1 to take advantage of the increased CPU speed? Do I need to completely reformat the drive or can I do it "on the fly"? P.S. You may wonder why we are upgrading our Plus's instead of just buy faster Mac's. The reasons are 1) we would still have the old macs hanging around and 2) new computers are on a restricted diet lately while we have budget for these types of upgrades. -- = Enjoy! = = John DeRosa, Motorola, Inc, Cellular Infrastructure Group = = e-mail: motcid!derosaj@uunet.uu.net, n1111@applelink.apple.com = =I do not hold by employer responsible for any information in this message =
