[comp.sys.mac.hardware] upgrading Personal LaserWriter LS

rcook@eagle.wesleyan.edu (05/24/91)

I was just thumbing through my Personal LaserWriter LS manual the other day and
it said that it could be upgraded by adding more memory. It currently has 512K
and that can be increased to 1024K. This leads me to ask two questions:

1) Would increasing the memory make it run faster? I know there's a 4 page per
minute printer engine limit; would more memory decrease the time between
when I click OK in the print dialog and when it spits out a page?

2) Last year I upgraded my Mac Plus to 2.5 megs and my dealer left me with two
256K simms. Would it be possible to use these simms in the laser printer?
i.e., I would only have to pay labor costs to upgrade the printer.

By the way, the printer is hooked up to a IIsi, not the Plus.
Thanks in advance.
