[comp.sys.mac.hardware] My internal 3.5" can read fine, but can't write.

The last time I moved my computer I couldn't find that little plastic
fake disk that came with the computer. When I got back I tried to
save a paper to disk and found that it would cause the disk to become
unformatted or at least it would say it was unformatted. At the same
time it reads fine. I tried copying a few disks with Copy II mac and
it would copy some sectors fine, but a majority of them would fail
the verification process (i.e. write errors). At the present moment
I don't really have the money to get it repaired, and I wonder at the
service call prices whether it is worth it.

Does anyone have any idea what would cause this behavior? What about
tools to open the case and see whether there is just something lodged
in there, where do you get them?

Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Please email
