Here are responses to my question: >I have an SE/30 and I have finally decided that I need a bigger screen with >color. I do not need anything fancy, but I do not want to kill my eyes staring >at a fuzzy picture. An 8-bit card with a 14" screen would be fine. I want to >spend as little as possible. Anyone have any suggestions as to brand, vendor, >etc? *** Try Micron's eXceed card for the SE/30. Provides 8-bit color at 640x480. Runs about $350 mail-order, and you can get it bundled with Magnavox's 14" monitor for about $800. The Micron card is excellent, allowing you to use both the external monitor and the internal 9" together, as well as having a switch on the back to "turn off" the card in case you want your SE/30 to stand alone (take it on a trip without the extra monitor, etc.) I don't know about the Magnavox monitor, though. I've never seen it, nor have I read any reviews. ******* After snooping around a good while, I decided to get a Micron XCeed 8-bit card and a Magnavox Professional 14" color monitor from MacLand. For $825 including shipping, it arrived two days later and I love it. ****** The Micron color card is a good choice, I have seen these mail order for as low as $299, the Seiko color monitor is a cheaper Trintron than Apples, goes for about $545.00 mail order. If you need names of vendors let me know, if you have access to macWeek you can find these items. **** Well, I guess I will have a good look at the Micron card! Any Magnavox users want to comment on this monitor? Tony Mann Spontaneous Software
