The Hypercard 2.1 Basics manual that came with the system 7 personal upgrade package says: "If your computer has a sound input device (such as a microphone or MacRecorder(TM)), you can use the Audio Palette..." Well, I do have a MacRecorder and tried to record using it. I received a dialog box saying "No compatible recording hardware is available." I called Apple who, naturally, referred me to Farallon. The person I spoke to at Farallon thought my problem was that I didn't have a new enough release of SoundEdit. I wasn't able to convince her that the Audio Palette in HC shouldn't require an application but I understood her logic. I could record sounds with SoundEdit and play them back or edit them with Audio Palette. But that wasn't my question. Can you use the MacRecorder to record sounds with Audio Palette? Rumaging through the system with resedit, I discovered a .AppleSoundInput driver. I suspect that I may need a customized version for MacRecorder so I'll continue to pester Farallon for closer examination of the problem. In the meantime, can anyone shed some light on it?
