have an old Symbiotic 120M SCSI hard drive that was originally bought to operate with a Mac Plus. However, the support disk with the formatting tools and other utilities is sdesigned to run with system 3.2. (mega old!!). I no longer use Pluses here, and I need a large storage device to act as a central archive. However, if I manage to format the disk with the tools provided, I cannot get the disk to function reliably with either a Mac SE or a Mac II, both of which have their internal drives, whereas the Plus used the SCSI port. I have tried allsorts, including taking it back to the supplier who has tried his best, but with no more success. I hate throwing away an otherwise useful drive, but I really need the disk space at the moment. So can anyone advise me of any tools that I can try to allow me to reformat the drive and test out its SCSI interface. I will try ANYTHING that is readily available, or even write my own (though I don't really have the time to). I would prefer freeware or shareware products, but will look into commercial packages. I will even mess around with ResEdit if necessary, and the current Apple HD installer if someone can offer me some advice. As a last resort, I will have to sell or part exchange the device, so any offers will be welcomed, at least that way I will be able to purchase an alternative storage device to meet my requirements. To save cluttering the net with replies (such optimism), you can mail me direct at russt@rhum.tcom.stc.co.uk. Thanks in advance.
