I happened to notice an ad in the June MacUser for a PostScript Level 2 printer from Software and Hardware that Fits. They claim it is the first Level 2 printer. It has a RISC processor (details not specified), and they claim it's 4-5 times faster than other Adobe PostScript printers, though their own figures show it as twice as fast as an NTX. They give some impressive-looking performance figures, and it appears to have a good list of features, like multiple paper trays, and auto switching between interfaces on 3 ports (AppleTalk, IBM PC Parallel, serial). Has anyone used one of these? I don't need a printer with this performance, but if this is as good as it looks, I can foresee downward pressure on prices for the sort of printer I actually need. -- Philip Machanick philip@pescadero.stanford.edu
