Has anyone experienced erratic behavior when taking an Apple (Sony) 40 drive from an SE/30 and trying to put in in an external case? I bought my SE/30 with a 40 meg internal, then decided to get a quantum 105 internal. When I format and test the sony inside the mac, it's fine, but when I try it in the (Emac) case, it gets some pretty funky read/write errors. I have tried all the standard sanity checks (different cables, SCSI ID, termination, case, power supply, SCSI connectors and cables). What I want to find out is- is there some kind of funky setup with the Sony drive so that it only works with ID 0 or inside the mac or both? If it matters, I _am_ using system 7, but the same problem occurred when I stuck the sony on other macs that were not sys 7. Please reply by email, since I don't follow this group very much. Thanks in advance. -Jamie P.S. The Quantum runs just fine. -- James W. Osborne | email: xerox@mac.dartmouth.edu Systems Programmer and starving student | Disclaimer:I didn't mean it! Really!
