[comp.sys.mac.hardware] HELP!!: Mac neophyte; unable to use my new 4MB SIMMs in my SE/30!!!

oleary@ux.acs.umn.edu (Doc O'Leary) (06/08/91)

OK, so I lied. I only have an SE. Our microcomputer center, however, has
just come out with their new SE->SE/30 upgrade prices ($750, down from
$1250; thank you Apple!). This is now within my price range (barely), but
I simply cannot allow myself to purchase it until some kind of statement is
made about the 32-bit cleanliness issue of the SE/30. Why isn't this
upgrade 32-bit clean? Why isn't it at least bundled with MODE32?

These are some very simple questions with, if it weren't for lawyers, would
have some very easy answers. The rumors are out there about the 32-bit
cleanliness issue with SE/30's, but nothing official has been said. A
response from someone at Apple (perhaps by email) regarding this would be
most appreciated. Without knowing the status of the upgrade, I refuse to
plunk any money down to get what may be a(nother) dead-end machine.

So, I wait and save. Who knows, by the time Apple makes a statement I
may be able to afford a better computer. Anybody want to guess what my
NeXT computer will be . . .
