[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Backing up disks

Since people are raving about backup programs, I have a query. I have a
scsi box with an 80M drive and a Wangtek QIC-24 tape drive with Emulex
controller hooked up to my UNIX system. I'm thinking
about moving the whole box off of the UNIX system and
plugging it into the IIcx (seeing as how the mac can be
a uucp news and mail point, according to what I've heard here on the net).
The biggest thing that's holding me up is that a coworker said he bought
a backup program for his Wangtek drive that actually physically killed
the tape drive. Apparently the company gave him a whole new drive
to replace it (with the little teensy 40M tapes), but I don't think I
can count on that. :v)

Are there any programs that will happily drive my QIC-24 tape? How much
will I pay to get a program that will format my hard drive for the Mac?
(It's a Maxtor drive, I think 105Mb unformatted.) Is this really a good
move? :^) Is there a painless way to still back up the UNIX box remotely
to the Mac? (I *could* just unplug the box and have the UNIX system
ignore the drive. Hmm.) Any other thoughts or experiences?

Thanks,
