I was pretty disappointed when I heard that it would be some months before Apple were going to modify the 8.24GC init to work with System 7.0. I do realize that is not a trivial task, but as most of these cards are used by people who would have the machines and memory to use 7.0 to its full advantage. After seeing QuickTime on the weekend I would feel considerably better if I knew that Apple were going to utilize the GC card for compression/ decompression for use with QuickTime. The demos are pretty amazing for an alpha version! (Love that ability to paste movies into documents, tho I don't know how useful it will be...) Does anyone know if the new GC init is going to be a compatibility upgrade or if Apple are planning to do something exciting with QuickTime and rendering TT fonts, it would be a serious waste of a mean processor if they did not.
