[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Exchanging drives - Internal<->External

jnsims01@ulkyvx.bitnet (06/18/91)

Does anyone have any experience with buying an external SCSI hardrive and
swapping the drive mechanism for an internal Apple mechanism? Here's the
situation. I need a 40MB external drive for a MacPlus which currently has no
hard drive. I also own a MacClassic with the Apple-supplied 40MB internal
drive. What I'd like to do is purchase a larger external hard drive (say,
80-105MB) and swap the drive mechanisms, putting the larger drive in the
Classic and the smaller drive in the now-empty external case for use with the
Plus. Any idea if this can be done? Problems I should look out for? Useful tips
or techniques? Answers especially welcome from those who may have actually done
this, as I distrust 'theoretical' answers 8-). As always, e-mail responses to
the addresses below are preferred; I'll sumarize if anyone else indicates
interest.

 My wife AND my employer ignore my opinions - feel free to do the same!
