[comp.sys.mac.hardware] 1.44 Mb Floppies on older MACs

dsr@mitre.org (Douglas S. Rand) (06/18/91)

I was wondering while looking through a copy of the Computer Shopper
rag. Are the 1.44 Mb drives for the PC that you can obtain for
$60 the same drives used in the Macs these days? I remember the
older drives had a funky line for varying the motor speed.

Even if these PC drives couldn't read 800k floppies, they would make
a nice external drive for backups or writing 1.44 Mb floppies to
exchange files and such.
