[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Advice wanted: mail-order Mac hardware

erf@progress.COM (Eric Feigenson) (06/20/91)

Hi, again! Thanks for all the replies about color monitors. And now,
for yet another question that's been seen before, so please e-mail
replies...

I'm looking for advice on "good" versus "bad" mail-order houses for
Mac hardware. I'll leave the specific of what sort of hardware open.
I'd just like to hear horror or happiness stories that you might have
had when trying to order hardware mail-order, and any specific
recommendations you might have for or against a particular merchant.

Thanks, again, in advance!

Everything I've heard (as far as lots of hardware is concerned) indicates that
MacZone is the best choice. Personally, I like MacConnection best, but their
hardware selection is very limited.

In a recent thread here (Mail-order hero/horror stories, or something
like that) quickly turned into a well-deserved lovefest for MacConnection.
Alliance Peripherals gets similar praise from customers in the storage
market (hard disks and tape drives). I don't know of any hardware
vendors that offer a broad range of products with reputations of this
magnitude.

What about Mac CPUs ?? Any recommended mail order places ? How do most of
these places handle warranties since the majority of the organizations which
sell CPUs are not authorized Apple dealers ??
