timothy@ccu1.aukuni.ac.nz (Mr. Timothy Bates) (06/27/91)
A little while ago Daystar were telling us why the 040 accelerators are negligably better than existing 50MHz '030s. A Motorola guy said that the specs upon which Daystar based this claim were less than completely accurate and certainly not authorised by Motorola. Can he (or anyone else) tell us what the relative speed of an '040 add-on to a mac IIci or similar machine (ci because of the access which the cache provides to the processor) as compared to a 50MHz '030 cache-slot accelerator card? Yours in anticipation of a 2:1 advantage for the '040 at 25 MHz given effective system patches to drive the '040 pipelines PS can anyone tell me what (finger?) command to change my name from the rather officious Mr timothy Bates to something more congenial? Cheers tim
