We are getting in a VAX 780 soon with an RA81 drive. I've heard several
horror stories about them, and some good stories. I know that DEC put
the drives out in the field before they were debugged, but have supposedly
fixed them. I am new to DECland, so I don't know how much faith to put in
DEC's claim to the RA81's being fixed.

I would appreciate any comments and experiences, good and bad, that anyone
has about this drive. we're also scheduled for an RA60 whenever they finish it.
Any comments on that would help, too.

Thanks

We've had the RA81s since they first came out, we're running them under
both Unix(4.1bsd) and VMS(3.2,3.3). Since the FCO was installed about 6 weeks
ago, we have had no problems. Oh, the machines are three 750s(1 vms) and
one 780(vms).
