ANAHEIM, Calif. (UPI) -- California Angels left-hander Chuck Finley, whose 2.57 ERA last season was second-best in the American League, and reserve catcher Bill Schroeder Thursday agreed to terms on 1990 contracts. Finley, 27, had career-bests in ERA, victories (16), complete games (9), innings pitched (199 2-3) and strikeouts (156). The left-hander, who has a 30-32 record in 120 major-league games, reportedly will earn $725,000 plus incentives this year. He made $180,000 last year Schroeder, 31, appeared in 41 games with the Angels in 1989 and batted .203 with six homers and 15 RBI. He underwent surgery Sept. 11 to remove calcium deposits and other loose particles in his right elbow. No financial terms were announced, but Schroeder was seeking $515,000 in arbitration. The Angels were offering $372,500, the catcher's salary last season. The agreements left California with six players scheduled to go to arbitration: first baseman Wally Joyner, third baseman Jack Howell, center fielder Devon White and pitchers Kirk McCaskill, Bob McClure and Scott Bailes.
