	SEATTLE (UPI) -- The Seattle Mariners have purchased the contract of
pitcher Clint Zavaras from Class AAA Calgary, their the Pacific Coast
League affiliate, team officials announced Friday.
	The Mariners also said they released first baseman Jim Wilson.
	Zavaras, 23, played at Calgary and Seattle last season. He was 1-6
with a 5.19 earned run average in 10 starts with the Mariners and 6-9
with a 6.04 ERAin 21 games at Calgary.
	Zavaras, who underwent surgery last month to repair a partially
torn rotaor cuff in his right shoulder, is not expected to pitch during
the 1990 season, the Mariners said.
	Wilson requested his release so he could play overseas. The
Mariners saidWilson has signed to play with the Daiei Hawks in Japan.
	Wilson had 133 runs batted in at Calgary last season.
