I was running a Nexis(tm) search on object oriented programming and found an old Byte article that mentioned an Object Logo for the MacIntosh. What struck me most about the language was that it has apparently eliminated the usual class/instance dichotomy found in most OOPLs. This sounds a bit like a few of today's references to a thread about SELF that I must have missed while our news server was down. (If anyone has a copy of that material which they could e-mail to me direct, it would be most appreciated.) At any rate, has anyone worked with Object Logo or any other OOPLs that uses dynamic-typing via prototypes as opposed to a class/instance system? What are the relative merits of the two approaches? (Also I'd be interested in seeing a description of the semantics of Object Logo and SELF with some sample source code if anyone would be willing to e-mail them to me.) Peter J.
