The reference for Model/View/Controller is "A Cookbook for Using the Model-View-Controller User Interface Paradigm in Smalltalk-80" by Glenn Krasner and Stephen Pope, which appeared in V1 N3 of the Journal of Object-Oriented Programming, Aug/Sept 88, pp 26-49.
