From: medin@ucbarpa.BERKELEY (Milo Medin) It's been brought to my attention that a letter I had posted to the net about a DEC salesman configuring a system with a Deuna board in it and that it was a bad configuration. Apparently the DEC management jumped on my DEC rep at NASA. This is not the person responsible for the faulty configuration, it was a neigh- boring district with another rep. My rep. has always provided good service and prompt action when I asked him for anything at all. He is a good guy and I have a lot of respect for him, tho he doesnt like Unix. What I dont have respect for is the DEC peo- ple who jumped to the conclusion that it was MY rep that was responsible, though I never mentioned his name or his account! So pls lay off him guys, its not him thats the bozo. Ok? Geez, I feel like Big Brother is watching..... Milo Medin

From: ihnp4!houxm!hogpc!hou5d!hou5h!hou5a!hbb@BERKELEY This is in regard to the incident where DEC management reprimanded the wrong Field Engineer in response to a complaint posted by a Vax site administrator. Although it is important to clear up the misunderstanding, I think it is also important that we recognize the good customer support that DEC has demonstrated by acting so quickly to remedy the source of the problem that caused the complaint. I think we would be far worse off were DEC to ignore issues aired on the net, in favor of meticulous investigation designed to avoid such errors. Harlan Braude hou5a!hbb

From: medin@ucbarpa.BERKELEY (Milo Medin) Oh I agree, I like DEC listening to what we say, BUT, before acting on such a vague complaint, I think they could mail me a letter asking for specifics. I will be much more specific next time. Milo
