At our institute some students were asked to build a generic Object Database Server. This server should be able to store any arbitrary Objecttype. At the creation phase of a new database this objecttype should be specified to the server which then builds the tables. Later on a object could be obtained from the database by naming the object- type and some key. Since this is new material for both me and these students, could anyone help me find literature about Object Database projects or theory? Any names of existing implementations (preferably in C++) are welcome too.
