At the risk of seeming self promotional, let me just state that my book, ``An Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming'', was published by Addison-Wesley this week, (ISBN 0-201-54709-0). It is intended as a university textbook, not a trade book. Anybody who might be teaching a suitable course next year might want to consider looking at it. Send me the particulars of your situation (institution, possible course and size, etc) and I will pass these on to my editor and see if you can get a comp copy. --tim budd, budd@cs.orst.edu

I got an early copy of Tim's "An Introduction to OO Programming." I would strongly recommend the book. It is one of the best intros to OO I have seen. My only complaint is that he doesn't use CLOS for any of the examples... but he does use Smalltalk-80, Objective C, C++, and (ugh) Object Pascal. --mark

Actually, I am using the book right now for a course. I did get a preprint
from A-W, and I like the book. I didn't find a book that came near this one
for the purpose of the course. Unfortunately, the students had up to now to
rely on taking class notes, but within a few weeks the book is supposed to
be available here.

The book is already out. It is published by Addison-Wesley. Having used a pre-publication version for a course last semester, I also strongly recommend it. Mike Share
