                     Call For Participation
               ICLP'91 Pre-Conference Workshop on
                Object-Oriented Logic Programming
                         Paris (France),
                      Monday June 24, 1991

The workshop will attempt to identify the main features of mixed
object-oriented and logic programming systems. One aim of the
workshop is to review existing systems so as to establish a clas-
sification and terminology (the vocabulary of OOP being sometimes
too fuzzy while that of LP is sometimes too restrictive). Another
aim of the workshop is to address fundamental issues in these in-
tegration attemps: semantics, logical models of inter-object com-
munication, concurrency, knowledge sharing, conflict resolu-
tion... The crucial problem of providing a unique coherent frame-
work for the basic notions of "action" (in OOP) and "truth" (in
LP) will be discussed. Examples of existing realisations and im-
plementations are welcome to illustrate the discussions.

The workshop will last one day and the discussions will be led by
a panel of invited speakers from both the OOP and the LP area. It
will start with a presentation by H. Ait-Kaci (DEC Paris Research
Lab). We expect around 20 participants. Each participant is in-
vited to send a 2/4-page position paper. These papers will be
gathered and distributed to all the participants, before the
workshop, as the basis for discussion. The participants may want
to make a short (less than 15 min) communication on a specific
topic (please notify if you are interested and mention in 2/3
lines the subject you would be interested in presenting). Demos
can also be organized (please notify if you want to present one).
