I am working on the development of a service management system (SMS) for intelligent networks. The SMS uses an object oriented database. We are currently evaluating three OODB products: VERSANT - VERSANT OBJECT TECHNOLOGY OBJECTSTORE - OBJECT DESIGN INC. ONTOS - ONTOLOGIC INC. Have you used these products? What are your opinions on their features, performance, cost, etc.? How is the training and after-sales support? Please add your ideas on the +'s and -'s of these products and answer to the following questions if possible: 1. Is the type independent persistence of ObjectStore very useful? Does it need a special compiler or a standard C++ compiler to use the "persistent" keyword? 2. Do any of the products support interworking with SQL databases? 3. How are the development tools like schema designer, browser & debugger? As the products are to be bought within a week, an early response will be of great help to me. Please email to me directly as I don't read news very often. I can summarise all responses. Thanking you in advance.
