A good book on Object Oriented Design is "Designing Object-Oriented Software" by Wirfs-Brock, Wilkerson and Wiener. It is ISBN 0-13-629825-7 from Prentice-Hall. It is language free and uses the responsibility driben design approach. I must admit some bias as I know the authors and work with Brian Wilkerson.
