Hi all, A few months back I spied a stereo Rickenbacker bass in a music shop here in Melbourne which had the "old style" forward (bass) pickup on it. By this I mean one with a silver metal strip right across the top of the pickup, rather than the black with black dots under each string. The only time I'd seen such a pickup was in a photo of Chris Squire in the booklet accompanying the "Fragile" album by Yes. The guitar was new, but no-one in the shop knew anything about it. Does anyone in net-land know anything about these pickups, and how they compare with the more commonly seen black/black dot versions? Thanks in advance from a genuine Rickenbacker freak, James Scott, Dept. of Communication & Electrical Eng.
