[alt.sys.sun] Mac access to a unix connected laser printer

robert@cm.deakin.OZ.AU (Robert Ruge) (07/13/90)

I have a Dataproducts LZR1260 Postscript printer connected to a Sun via
a serial line and all works fine from the Unix side. I also have some
Macs sitting on a Multigate (an appletalk-ethernet box) which I need to
allow to print to the Laser printer. I have the cap software installed
on the Sun and I am trying to use the lwsrv program that comes with it
to allow the Macs to print. The lwsrv process recieves the files from
the Macs and spools the jobs BUT my printer comes back with the
following error:

psif: aragorn.cm.deakin.oz.au:root cm-lw start - Fri Jul 13 13:58:40 1990
%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: op ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
psif: end - Fri Jul 13 13:58:52 1990

The lwsrv process is started with the command:

lwsrv -n "cm-lw Spooled" -p cm-lw -A on -e -r -T quote8bit -T crtolf \
	-l /usr/spool/lpd/cm-lw/lwsrv.log -a /usr/local/lib/cap \
	-f /usr/local/lib/cap/LW+Fonts

and outputs the following when started:

lwsrv: Starting print job for cm-lw Spooled
lwsrv: Sending fontList: 38 entries
lwsrv: simple: Including ProcSet "(AppleDict md)" 70 0 = FoundProcSet.646027110
lwsrv: Running in eexec mode
lwsrv: Preserving file in /tmp/lwsrva03987
lwsrv: Printing job: ; user jj; on Fri Jul 13 14:06:47 1990

I am not quite sure if it is the lwsrv process or the printer that is
causing all the trouble. Has anybody used this printer in such a
situation? If anybody can help I would be eternally gratefull.
Thanks for any and all info.
				Regards, Robert.
