I am looking for a way or ways to interface two mail systems, sendmail (running on a Sun network) and DISOSS (running on an IBM network). The physical connection is not a problem (be it 9600 bps, 19.2, 56K ...), but I am not sure what kind of special interface, if any, may be necessary. I have been trying to find information on what is out there that will allow for a DISOSS user to send a sendmail user a message, and vice versa, without the Sun users having to log into the DISOSS system to read a mailbox. 3270 emulation, allowing the users to log into the DISOSS system, is a first thought, but we really want the systems to deliver mail between each other so that the users of the respective mail systems don't have to learn a different system. I have had some brief discussions about X.400 as a vehicle, but I do not have enough information to determine if it is a reasonable solution. If anyone has achieved this type of connection, or has information that may be useful, please send me email. I greatly appreciate any and all help that is offered! Thank you very much in advance.
