From: Bakin@MIT-MULTICS.ARPA VMS users: Is the package of "DEC Bourne Shell + 50 assorted utilities" the same as "VNX", and if not, what is "VNX"? Also, is anyone using the make tool off of the Software Tools Group "goodies" tape? (Or was it sscs that they're experimenting with?) Thanks! -- Dave Bakin (Bakin -at mit-multics)

From: sasaki@harvard.ARPA (Marty Sasaki) I believe that VNX is the designation of the marketing group that sells UNIX-like products including the DEC Shell, CMS, MMS, the various Ultrix's, and (I believe) the C compiler. Marty Sasaki (sasaki@harvard.ARPA)

From: engvax!KVC@cit-vax Actually, VNX designates a certain set of UNIX-like products for VMS. At this time, those products include the DEC/Shell, the C compiler, and MMS. I am not sure whether CMS is technically listed under the VNX group of products or not. In any case, VNX has nothing to do with Ultrix beyond the fact that they are both product strategies aimed at selling UNIX tools. /Kevin Carosso engvax!kvc @ CIT-VAX.ARPA Hughes Aircraft Co.
