I am looking for a good DSP add-in board for an IBM PC-AT or compatible. Since I don't desire to spend a whole lot of time writting a driver or interface library, I hope to find one with this included. I will be accessing the DSP from a program written in Microsoft C. MIKE

You might look into the Ariel PC-56. This is a DSP 56001 based IBM PC card that runs at 20.5 MHz. It optionally has 16K words or 64K words of external RAM. The host interface is via the 56k's host port, so it's 8 bits wide. I've used Microsoft C to talk to the DSP on a 12 MHz AT, and you can get about 40K bytes/sec over the port without resorting to assembler. As an option, you can get a 14 bit brain-damaged AD/DA converter installed on the card. The price is $595 without the AD/DA chip, I believe. You'll need the Motorola assembler to assemble code for the 56k. This runs about $400 from Motorola. You also might consider building your own. It's not that hard, and Todd Day has posted some very good articles here about doing this.
