Hi all, in a DOS environment what audio/video (not VGA etc, but VCR
etc) boards exist and where would be a good place to find out about
them?

I would suggest looking in PERSONAL ENGINEERING magazine, which is
devoted to engineering / scientific uses of the PC and its clones.

The magazine can be contacted at:
Box 300, Brookline MA 02146
Compuserve 70147,1502
(617) 232-3625

Free to qualified subscribers, $30/yr otherwise. Back issues $5.

I have no association with this magazine other than as a contented reader.
