[comp.dsp] Great DSP Software

henry@amstel.ee.ufl.edu (Henry A. Gancedo) (12/09/90)

If your looking for exceptional DSP software for PCs look for MONARCH
software. I've seen a pre-release version of Version 2.0 and it looks
quite impressive. You get digital filter design along with something
the other PC-DSP software packages don't have, it has an integrated
MATLAB clone which can be used to create signals, simulate filters,
perform analysis, develop algorithms, etc. All of the graphics are
clean and comprehensive. Zooming and "find-the-nearest-point" features
are also included. There's something else about the filter design that's
innovative, MONARCH has the ability to design filters from a pole-zero
description, a transfer function, or a state-variable description in
addition to the regular FIR and IIR design methods. And get this, you
can take a design and flip between the three methods. One more thing,
you have a choice of 6 different architectures for your filters (e.g.
cascaded, parallel, ladder, etc...). MONARCH is sold by The Athena
Group, Inc. I don't have their address but I do have their phone number
: (904)371-2567. Since I'll be receiving the package soon, I'll try to
post another letter with more details soon.
