[comp.dsp] References on using Neural Net to classify spectra

Can anyone steer me to any good references concerning previous work in
the area of using a neural network to classify spectra resulting from
digital signal processing?

Suggestions for effective DSP algorithms or neural network products for
this application (preferably UNIX based {generic or HP or 386 based})
would also be very welcome.
