Hi. I work for a lab that needs to do a lot of audio recording and data collection in the field (jungles, arctic, etc.), and we're thinking about carrying some DSP power to pre-process the data. Does anyone have any leads on available boxes or boards that might be suitable? It would be nice if the box were: o Lightweight That means few bulky peripherals. Maybe a keypad and LCD display. Data output to audio tape in digital or analog form. (For some measurements, the bandwidth of the processed data is much lower than the sound itself. Sometimes a simple "what" and "where" once a second suffices.) o Battery powered Maybe a car battery, maybe smaller. o EPROM based It would be nice if some sort of operating system or libraries were available. o Rugged For obvious reasons. Any leads or anecdotes appreciated. (By email, please.) Thanks, --Steve -- -- Steve Mitchell mitchell@cs.cornell.edu Comp Sci/Upson Hall \\ Cornell University \\ Ithaca, NY 14853
