Over in the rec.music.synth there is a discussion regarding the hassles of SCMS copy protection currently found on DAT recorders. Several people have suggested recording everything with a 48k sampling rate, then converting it down to 44.1k when mastering to a CD. I was wondering what kind of problems we can expect when we do this. I suspect that we will see alaising and missing samples giving an overall lower quality recording. I suspect someone reading this group knows more about this than I. If that someone would shed light on this topic I would appreciate it.
