From: sasaki@harvard.ARPA (Marty Sasaki) I asked at the local Local User's Group (DECUS is wonderful) about my problems with the terminal driver and possibly VAX-11 C. Well, it turns out that the problem is almost certainly with the compiler and run-time. According to several at the LUG meeting, the problem with C is well known and will be corrected with version 2.0 of the C compiler/run-time. The problem manifests itself as inconsistent and sometimes bizarre actions from what were normally behaved programs on version 3.x of VMS. My problems with VI were felt to be consistent with other reported problems. The bad news is that version 2.0 isn't going to be released for a while. No one at the LUG meeting knew when this would be, and my salesman is useless when it comes to any information about any product. As an aside, several people have asked about VI running on VMS. Our version is a hacked 4.1 version of VI that has known problems and is a resource hog. I am very hesitant about sending it out. As an alternative, maybe someone could write a package for TPU.
