I am going to be porting an application from a Sun 386i to a 3090 w/ AIX. I have never used AIX before so I am trying to get an idea what it will be like. (What problems w/ the port I`ll have, what software I shouldn't use, what public domain software I can use, etc.) How BSD like is AIX ? What public domain software has been ported already ? Specifically, has GNU emacs, make and gcc been ported yet ? I know I`ll have problems w/ the non ASCII character set for some code that`s been written. What other kinds of portability problems will I have ? Who has an AIX anonymous ftp site ? Please email me responses and I`ll summarize and post. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tom Shott INTeL, 5200 Elam Young Pkwy, Hillsboro, OR 97124, (503) 696-4520 toms@mipon2.intel.com OR toms%mipon2.intel.com@csnet.relay.com INTeL.. AIX on the 3090 uses ASCII, not EBCDIC.
