From: decvax!mcnc!ecsvax!drw@BERKELEY The cursor speed of the C. Itoh 220 terminals while using EDT is much improved under version 4 of VMS. What's this about a C.Itoh lawsuit?

From: Jeff Cameron <jcameron%NRTC@USC-ECL.ARPA> Exerpt from "MIS Week" magazine : D.E.C. has filed suit in U.S. District Court, Newark, N.J. against C. Itoh & Co. (America) Inc., of New York City, seeking an injunction which would Itoh from selling its CIT-220 video display terminal. DEC is charging that the Itoh VDT is a direct and unauthorized copy of the DEC VT-220 and that Itoh also copied both its VT-220 screen set-up formats and documentation, in violation of DEC's copyright. ... ... ... DEC is asking the court to order Itoh to cease manufacturing, distribution and sale of the CIT-220, as well as a recall of all terminals and manuals from its customers.

From: Ron Natalie <ron@BRL-TGR.ARPA> Certainly isn't the first instance of blatent copyright infringement. We had a tape controller from some company and the programming instructions were identical to those in the DEC documentation, down to a mistake where word was used where byte was appropriate. -Ron
