[comp.unix.aix] Looking for XView on the RS6000

pturner@ese.ese.ogi.edu (Paul Turner) (06/17/90)

Hello,

I'm interested in knowing:

1. Has anyone successfully built the XView toolkit on the RS6000, commercial
products included.

2. Assuming no one has, I'd be interested in knowing if anyone out there has
plans to bring XView up on the RS6000.

3. Would anyone happen to foresee any problems with compiling XView from
the X11r4 distribution on the RS6000 (which is r3 I believe).

4. Would anyone knowing both Motif and Xview care to comment on
which toolkit is easier to use? How much work would it be to port XView
code to Motif?

5. Is there a comp.sys.ibm.rs6000? Or some other newsgroup that discusses
this machine in particular. A mailing list?

I'll summarize to the net.

Just a comment: the performance of this machine relative to price, is
simply breathetaking. Obviously, IBM wants its rightful 100% share of the
workstation market - they sure sold us - 1 hour with a 320 and I hung
FOR SALE signs on our Suns :-).

Thank you,

Paul J. Turner - pturner@ese.ogi.edu
