With AIX V3, open calls on /dev/tty?? do not behave as they do on my AIX 1.2 and my SYSV systems. Logged in on /dev/tty1, I open /dev/tty1, and it returns "permission denied." In fact, "write" by normal users cannot even write to me when I am logged in on my AIX V3 system, even though I have done a "mesg -yes". Executing "echo foo > /dev/tty1" fails. However, logged in via TCP/IP, executing "echo foo > /dev/pts/0" works (usually). What have I configured incorrectly? -- Kevin Kleinfelter @ Management Science America, Inc (404) 239-2347 gatech!nanovx!msa3b!kevin "Don't hold your finger on the button if the motor ain't goin' roundy-roundy."
