From: engvax!KVC@cit-vax Anyone out there have any experience with the VAX PSI and KMS-11 boards? I've been running the PSI for awhile on both the KMS-11P and KMS-11BD, but only at 9600 baud. We want to crank it up to 56kb, but have heard rumours that the KMS-11's have problems at such speeds. Can anyone confirm or (hopefully) deny this? Also, what sort of system overhead does PSI become when running through a KMS-11 at 56kb? We weren't able to detect any measurable overhead at 9600... The KMS-11 BD supports multiple lines (up to 8 I think). I've never tried it with more than one. Does it work with 2 or more? Our ultimate goal is to run 2 56kb lines into a 785 running VAX PSI. Can the BD handle this? From what I can tell, the P board is roughly half the cost of a BD. Could anyone comment on the usefulness of perhaps running 2 P boards (at 56 kb each) rather than one BD? I realize that that would take up 4 UNIBUS slots instead of 3, but if the BD could not keep up with 2 56k lines, it may be the only solution. /Kevin Carosso engvax!kvc @ CIT-VAX.ARPA Hughes Aircraft Co.
