[fa.info-vax] Standalone backup v4.1

Has anyone had any problems with standalone backup reading tapes
on a massbus TU78? I keep getting "tape not in ANSI format", even
if I have just written the tape under standalone backup. My command
line is:

$ backup /image/verify mfa0:01mar85.bck/rewind/dens=6250 hsc000$dua0:/init

I can go disk -> tape and disk -> disk, but not tape -> disk or
tape -> tape. This is only happening (so far) on a newly delivered
system that we are trying to bring up for the first time.

Have you considerd tape drive hardware problems? That sounds a little flaky
to me. Could be something as simple as the read gain isn't up as far as
it should be.. (or the write, they're independent.) Or, even on a new drive,
the heads may well be dirty enough to screw you up.
