I am using "maclaser" and associated "laser-prep" files to print Macintosh generated PostScript files on our Apple LaserWriter. The LaserWriter happens to be on a serial port on a Sun fileserver, which runs Adobe Transcript as it's printing software. Now I want to print the same files on an IBM 4019 laser printer (running in PostScript mode) on our R6000 (it's a 530). I tried using maclaser (without the ps8 filter) and it flashed awhile, the light came on for a few seconds, then it went idle. Since psprint (the filter for text to the same printer) requires a ctrl-d on the end of the file I also tried appending a ctrl-d to the end of the maclaser output. I got the same results. Can someone who has printed Mac files on an RS6000 with a 4019 printer please tell me what I'm doing wrong? I can't seem to find any documentation about the PostScript driver for the printer so I'm not sure in what direction to head. (I am assuming that the IBM is looking for a different flavor of PostScript than the Adobe software wants to see.) Any help is much apreciated. Email probably better (but I do read the group), in case this is not of general interest. Jeanne Leclair leclair@herky2.cs.uiowa.edu
