Hi folks, We are looking at getting an RS6000 for some X development, and we understand that it comes with OSF/Motif. Our experience with IBM in the past is that they have their own way of doing things, the rest of the world notwithstanding. The RS6000 seems to be in a much more mainstream direction, but I wanted to find out from the net.wizards at large whether their version was reasonable. If we develop an application using their particular widget set, do we stand a fighting chance of making it run on another platform with Motif? Thanks, Steve -- Stephen J. My experience shows that in most respects the Motif stuff on the rios is plain-vanilla, although somewhat dated. Now if they'd just fix the X server.... jim frost saber software jimf@saber.com

I don't think you can call something 'Motif' if you don't conform to the standard. The widgets should work the same as on any other box unless you use some IBM extensions in the area of international text. These might be standard Motif rather than IBM extensions; I'm not sure. -- | "Pain, n.
