If a RISC 6000 were configured with a 160 MB system disk how much would be left after loading the V.4 O.S. (non-development version) and configuring swap space for 8 MB of memory ? Any drawbacks in using a larger external disk for the O.S. ? Also is 8 MB anywhere near the mark for a system with 2-4 users, ORACLE 6, TCP/IP over Ethernet and NFS ? I have heard that AIX needs lots of memory, expecially with ORACLE. Finally, what are your opinions of having a RISC 6000 without a local tape drive. The only drive available would be remote over TCP/IP Ethernet. Obviously these sorts of questions are impossible to judge exactly without much more information but all I'm looking for is a feeling or experiences. Thanks (Any opinions or ideas expressed in this posting are my own and have no relationship with my employer.) -- <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Nigel Harwood >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> << Post: Coles Myer Ltd, PO Box 2000 Tooronga 3146, Australia >> << Phone: +61 3 829 6090 E-mail: nigel@cnw01.storesys.coles.oz.au >> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
