Does IBM ship an imake with AIX v3? Or do they expect their users to not want to compile any X application they do not supply? -- Dan Ehrlich - Sr. Systems Programmer - Penn State Computer Science <ehrlich@cs.psu.edu>/Voice: +1 814 863 1142/FAX: +1 814 865 3176

I don't know if it comes built or not, but you should be able to build it with everything that's there. >Dan Ehrlich - Sr. Systems Programmer - Penn State Computer Science Steve DeJarnett Internet: steve@ibminet.awdpa.ibm.com IBM AWD Palo Alto UUCP: uunet!ibminet.awdpa.ibm.com!steve (415) 855-3510 IBM VNET: dejarnet at ausvmq These opinions are my own. I doubt IBM wants them.......

You need to have it installed. The directory [/usr/lpp/X11/Xamples] is set up like the MIT X distribution tape. Read the [README] file in there. It explains how to build all the samples, including imake. If you just want imake, go into [/usr/lpp/X11/Xamples/util/imake] and type "make". It will build imake. You should probably put your X programs in [/usr/lpp/X11/Xamples/...] or a copy of it (unless you are good at modifying imake files). -- Eng-Shien Wu, "My views only" X Thingy, IBM Advanced Workstations Div, Austin, Texas Internet: eswu@ub.cc.umich.edu VNET: ausvmq(engshien) -- Eng-Shien Wu, "My views only" X Windows, IBM Advanced Workstations Div, Austin, Texas Internet: eswu@ub.cc.umich.edu VNET: ausvmq(engshien)

The Xamples hierarchy also includes source for X applications they don't support, configured to compile and run under AIX v3. -- Chuck Karish karish@mindcraft.com
