[comp.unix.aix] Where is imake on a RS/6000?

ehrlich@cs.psu.edu (Dan Ehrlich) (11/01/90)

Does IBM ship an imake with AIX v3? Or do they expect their users to not
want to compile any X application they do not supply?

	It's in /usr/lpp/X11/Xamples/util/imake on the system I use. I don't
know if it comes built or not, but you should be able to build it with
everything that's there.

These opinions are my own. I doubt IBM wants them.......

Imake is in the X Development LPP (which stands for Licensed Program
Product, or something like that). You need to have it installed.

The directory [/usr/lpp/X11/Xamples] is set up like the MIT X
distribution tape. Read the [README] file in there. It explains how
to build all the samples, including imake.

If you just want imake, go into [/usr/lpp/X11/Xamples/util/imake]
and type "make". It will build imake.

You should probably put your X programs in [/usr/lpp/X11/Xamples/...]
or a copy of it (unless you are good at modifying imake files).

Try /usr/lpp/X11/Xamples/util. The Xamples hierarchy also includes
source for X applications they don't support, configured to
compile and run under AIX v3.
