When I try to run the two graphics programs primer2.c and sniff.c that I found in /usr/lpp/ibmgl, I get the message: gl: winopen: 1345-072 The requested X-Windows Server extension is not installed. I'm running 3.1 with the September updates applied, and using a 6091 monitor. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? -- Dewey Paciaffi ...!uunet!edi386!eddjp

Funny you should ask that. Here's what IBM folks told me--"You need an 8-bit graphics card for that." I said, hmm, it would seem strange to have a color option less than 8-bit. I told them this. "Oh, you need a 3-d graphics board." This may actually be the answer, we haven't gotten the new boards yet ($4000, upgradeable to 24-bit). Let me know if you find out anything else... -- David L. You do need the 3-d graphics card if you want to use GL. We just got the card, and the demos that gave the winopen error do indeed work.
